Obituary
Mary Susan Colter, 75, of Chesterfield, VA and Kill Devil Hills, NC, passed away peacefully at home on, Sunday, June 23, 2024. Sue took her final breaths warm, comfortable, loved, and watching the cardinals from her window. She was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Helen Clark; brother, Billy Ray Clark; and nephew, Steven Ray Clark. Sue is survived by her daughter, Carrie Helen Weese and her husband, Aaron John Weese; cousins, David and Serena Ebhardt Zum Brunnen, and Carlton Zum Brunnen. A visitation will be held from 10:30-11:30 am on Monday, July 1 at Morrissett Funeral & Cremation Service, 6500 Iron Bridge Rd., N. Chesterfield, VA 23234. Sue’s graveside service will follow at Bermuda Memorial Park. In honoring Sue’s vibrant spirit, we kindly ask that guests refrain from wearing black. We loved having Mary Susan among us, at VCU. Ever full of clever comments, she was the life of any gathering—at lunch or a party. She could listen to class lectures, rarely taking extensive notes, and recall what was said in discussion or exams. She never met a stranger and made time to care for friends. Her resilience, kindness, humor, intelligence and strength will be missed!
